We are Brown University faculty, students, and partners from other universities, all dedicated to designing robots that benefit human communities. In the XPRIZE project, we are tackling a foundational task: to teach robots the norms of the community in which they are deployed. Through a committed interdisciplinary approach we study a community’s norm systems, implement them in computational architectures, and evaluate the effectiveness and appropriateness of robots that abide by these norms.
