MASH Makes is a climate technology company that develops and operates systems to convert agricultural waste into renewable energy and certified carbon removal. Founded at the Technical University of Denmark, the company works primarily in the Global South to deploy decentralized, modular pyrolysis units that produce sustainable biofuel and biochar. The biochar is certified and sold as carbon removal credits, enabling a scalable climate solution that also supports local livelihoods. Operations are currently based in India, with expansion planned in additional markets. MASH Makes’ containerized pyrolysis units convert agricultural residues into two key products. The first is a low-cost biofuel compatible with existing infrastructure in shipping and heavy industry. The second is biochar, a carbon-rich material that improves soil health and stores carbon for centuries. The units are placed close to biomass sources to reduce transport costs and enable flexible, local deployment. A next-generation gasification platform is also under development. It will process a wider range of feedstocks into clean energy and biochar. This advancement is central to scaling from megaton to gigaton carbon removal.
