Our team is challenging to develop a low-environmental-impact circular cell culture system (CCC system), which is based on algae culture that can synthesize organic matter from inorganic one through photosynthesis. In CCC system, animal cells are expanded with whole-animal-origin-free culture medium containing algae extracts and algae is expanded by recycling culture medium waste. Our team is also challenging to fabricate cultured meat with scaffoldless tissue engineering technology.
