We are a collaboration between Stanford Microfluidics Laboratory and Purigen Biosystems. Our SARS-CoV-2 assay uses microfluidics to eliminate laborious steps associated with standard molecular diagnostics. Nucleic acid purification is automated using on-chip isotachophoresis. Nucleic acids are then amplified using reverse transcription (RT) loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) in just 30 minutes, less than half of the time associated with standard qPCR. We then use CRISPR-Cas12 fluorescent detection to identify amplicons associated with SARS-CoV-2 for enhanced specificity.
