A pink and fuschia

In honor of XPRIZE’s 30th anniversary, we invited people all over the world to join our Vision of the Future Multimedia competition, submitting an idea of how they envisioned the future in 2050. We encouraged participants to communicate this idea in the medium of their choice—ranging from music, art, video, short stories, and any other medium that participants felt best expressed their idea.

We’re thrilled to announce that the winners of our Vision of the Future Multimedia competition are…

Max Calzada Muñoz, M.S.

“The vision of the future that I share with many is furthering the vision of livable cities with clean air, accessible transportation, and where public spaces are designed for women to be safe and feel safe.”

Diplomatic Courier

“Imagine a 2050 where disagreements remain, but “different” no longer means “dangerous.” A healthier information ecosystem means less polarization, allowing for global cooperation at the scale needed to address the polycrisis. We reach this future by evolving our concept of literacy. Traditional literacy empowers us to understand and be understood through reading and writing.

Similarly, alternative literacies—such as climate, digital, and media literacies—empowers us with understanding of concepts fundamental to each, and the critical thinking necessary to make further decisions independently from there.

With the purpose and future of education being increasingly politicized, governments may struggle to enact alternative literacy initiatives. Envisioning a brighter future, we must all lead the conversation on rethinking formal and informal education to encourage these new, future–ready alternative literacies.”

Congratulations to our winners and thank you to all who made a submission! To learn more about XPRIZE’s 30 years of impact, visit here
